NPPD rebuilds from ice storm in record time
(Editorial ~ 05/11/07)
We're spoiled in this country. We admit it. We flip a switch, and we expect the lights to go on. We've heard about foreign countries where they have electricity only a few hours a day, if that. As proud as I was of the efforts of our boys and girls track teams, I was equally proud of the diligent efforts of all the people that were a part of putting on that great show!...

Defining deviancy down
(Letter to the Editor ~ 05/11/07)
Many years ago, an astute New York senator, the late Patrick Moynahan, coined the term that epitomizes American culture, "Defining deviancy down," to wit: dragging our nation into the gutter under the pretense of "tolerance." In 2005 I moved from Massachusetts to Nebraska to escape such institutionalized debauchery, but, sadly, there is no safe haven -- not even in the American heartland, and McCook Senior High School will suffice to prove my point...
