Quit complaining
(Column ~ 01/16/02)
Dear Editor, In regard to the arena, yes it would be nice for McCook to have it. Why can't you have a race track at the same time? What does this mean? Just goes to show that you can't please everyone. Yes racing is noisy; but it does bring money to McCook. Mr. Kiplinger should be applauded for wanting to help the community...

The high cost of careless words
(Column ~ 01/16/02)
Dad didn't hold much store in going to church. In fact, I only recall attending church as a family one time, on an Easter Sunday when I was probably 10. I gathered, from his comments following that visit, that he wasn't all that impressed with church folk, claiming them to be "nothing but a bunch of hypocrites." (It occurs to me now that it was more likely that he was ashamed of his motley crew, we simply didn't measure up to his perception of their standards.)...

Wake up and smell...
(Column ~ 01/16/02)
City of McCook homeowners and residents better wake up and smell the roses before we all smell animal arena waste on an every day basis.
