HASTINGS -- Clifford Smith, 66, formerly of McCook, died Tuesday (Jan. 15, 2002) at Perkins Nursing Home in Hastings. He was born on May 8, 1935, at McCook to Paul P. and Marie (Wind) Smith. He graduated from McCook High School in 1953. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1955 and served until 1959, when he was honorably discharged.

He was employed in McCook in the maintenance department for several years.

He was a member of the McCook American Legion and Eagles Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Tony Smith.

Survivors include two brothers, Allen E. Smith and wife, Pat, of Lake Havasue, Ariz., and Raymond P. Smith of Bloomfield, N.M.; five sisters, Esther Offner Needham and husband, Jim of Cambridge, Pauline Bradley of Littleton, Colo., Mary Goelz of Columbus, Lucille Fowler of Oberlin and Margaret Mcguire and husband, Ervin of McCook; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will beMonday, 11:00 a.m., at the Carpenter Breland Chapel with the Rev. Stan Hendershot officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Color Guard.

Visitation is Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.-noon; and Sunday, 5-8 p.m.

Memorials may be given in his name.
