John 'Al J' A. Depperschmidt
DRESDEN -- John "Al J" A. Depperschmidt, 70, died Monday (Jan. 14, 2002) in his home in Dresden.
He was born July 18, 1931, in Hays, Kan., to Seraphine and Anna (Feldt) Depperschmidt. He grew up in Menlo and Dresden and attended Menio and Hoxie schools.
On Nov. 10, 1954, he married Dolores Soderlund in Leoville. They farmed east of Dresden, until June 14, 1970, when they moved to town. He was a farmer and manager of the Dresden Elevator for 19 years.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Leoville, 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, Leoville, and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Hoxie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Michael John and Edward Dale; three brothers, Elmer, Melvin and John; and two brothers-in-law, Leo Koerperich and Kenneth Weber.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores; two sons, Mark of Plano, Texas and David and wife, Carla of Oberlin; two sisters, Vida Koerperich of McCook and Bernita Weber of Hoxie; and two grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, 10 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church in Leoville, with the Rev. James Hoover and Sister Marilyn Wall officiating. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Leoville.
Visitation is today Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m., and Thursday after 8 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Leoville.
Memorials are being accepted in his name.
