Week Three Friday Night Lights Football Heroes - 11-Man

*Brogan Benes, Kaden Hudson, Daron Dotzler-Boone Central - All-State RB Brogan Benes may have had the game of his life in Boone Central's 49-28 win over Battle Creek. Benes exploded for a school record 308 yards on just 9 carries, scoring touchdowns covering 84, 51, 69 and 69 yards in the game while averaging 34.5 yards per tote. QB Kate Hudson completed 7 of 10 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns covering 72 and 41 yards after escaping for a 56 yard run on the first play of the game. On defense, 5-9, 170 lb junior linebacker Daron Dotzler had a monster 15 tackles in the game, 7 of which were solos. That’s just like a normal day at the office for Dotzler, who had 14 tackles against Norfolk Catholic and 11 stops against Hartington Cedar Catholic.
*Jaron Cannon Omaha North - Remarkable talent who rushed for 1,447 yards a year ago, blasted off for 312 yards on 18 carries with TD runs covering 69, 46, 41 and 24 yards in the Vikings big 51-20 victory over rival Omaha Central. That gives the Senior Sensation 650 big ones just three games deep into the 2025 season.
*Jack Alberts, Grayson Sack, Thomas Schneider, Connor Haney Grand Island Central Catholic - Crusader senior Jack Alberts, an All-State candidate on both sides of the ball, ran for an amazing 185 yards on just five carries with TD runs covering 75 and 9 yards in GICC’s 42-0 win over Hershey last Thursday. All-State QB Grayson Sack completed 7 of 9 passes for 209 yards and tossed scoring passes covering 80 yards to Thomas Schneider and 37 yards to Connor Haney, who had 4 receptions for 148 yards in the shutout.
*Hank Prokop, Komily Kowa, Trenton Ernst-Lincoln Lutheran - Senior QB Hank Prokop ran 30 times for 182 yards and a touchdown in Lutheran's big 18-16 victory over Doniphan-Trumbull. Prokop also completed 4 of 12 passes for 91 yards that included a 43 yard scoring strike to Trenton Ernst, who by the way made 8 tackles on defense.
*Kip Brigham, Jase Kaminski, Kade Christan, Jayse Styskal-Wahoo - Kip Brigham had another huge night in Wahoo's 42-7 win over Aurora. The amazing senior ran for 292 yards and 4 TDs on 18 carries. QB Jase Kaminski completed 8-11 passes for 162 yards with a pair of scoring tosses. Kade Christen grabbed 4 of those passes for 155 yards and a TD while Jayse Styskal was active on defense, making 7 stops and forcing two fumbles.
*Tay Tay Jenkins Omaha Westside - The spectacular Jenkins logged his third 200 yard rushing night and as many outings this year by going off for 226 yards on 12 carries and 3 TDs in the Warriors 51-0 punishing of Millard West. That is Jenkins 12th hundred yard plus rushing game in a row dating back to last season. He now leads the State in rushing with 697 yards. Quarterback Braylon Warren also had a big night for Westside completing 8 of 12 passes for 155 yards with 3 TDs.
*Jacob Brazee-Central City - Senior was a shining star in the Bison's 42-0 victory over Minden. All Brazee did was catch an 80 yard TD pass, return a kickoff 79 yards for another score and record a 30 yard pick 6 on defense while making 10 tackles when he wasn't doing that.
*Sage Giddings-Omaha Westview - 5-9, 185 lb junior broke loose for 217 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries in Westview's 42-7 win over Omaha Burke.
*Ayden Bohoboj-Fremont - Bohoboj (bow-hoe-boy) rushed 24 times for 208 yards and 5 touchdowns in the Tigers 42-7 win over Lincoln High.
*Cole Signor Tanner Wagner Norfolk - Cole Signor to Tanner Wagner proved to be a lethal pass/ catch combination in Norfolk's 41-13 win over North Platte. Signer completed 10 of 18 passes for 152 yards and 2 TDs, both going to Wagner from 24 and 16 yards out. Wagner also rushed 3 times for 60 yards, made 4 tackles on defense and added a blocked punt just for good measure.
*Jordan Williams-Ord - Junior quarterback, who ran for 1000 yards in 2024, rushed for 237 yards and 3 TDs on 18 carries in the Chanticleer’s heartbreaking 27-26 loss to fine O'Neill squad. Williams also threw for 57 yards and completed a TD pass in the loss.
*Trace Buechle, Dominic Beebout, Parker Chavez-Valentine - Signal caller Trace Buechle completed 9 of 10 throws for 247 yards and 3 TDs in Valentine's 42-0 win over Gibbon. Dominic Beebout caught 3 of those passes for 101 yards and a score while also rushing 7 times for 76 yards and an additional TD. Parker Chavez was outstanding on the defensive side, making 11 tackles, six of which were for losses.
*Derek Tonjes, Carlisle Spears, Sam Mundt-Ashland-Greenwood - Bluejays 6-5, 205 lb QB Derek Tonjes helped A-G come back from a 28-28 halftime deadlock, rallying the troops to a 49-28 victory over Columbus Scotus. Tonjes connected on 14 of 22 passes for 191 yards and a TD, while adding 68 yards on 9 touches with 2 more scores. Spears led the ground attack with 170 yards on 24 carries with two TDs while junior Sam Mundt added 86 yards and a pair of scores to the total. Mundt’s classmate Brody Lindhorst took a 91 yard kickoff to the house among his 169 kick return yards in the game.
*Myles Nielsen, Hunter Swanson-West Point-Beemer - Nielsen rattled off 176 yards and two TDs on just 13 carries in the Cadets 28-27 loss to Bishop Neumann. Nielsen, who had an 80 yard run in the game, also caught 4 passes for 13 yards and recorded 6 tackles defensively. Hunter Swanson also had a 64 yard fumble return for a touchdown in the nailbiter.
*Trevin Grabowski -Centura - Rugged Centura standout broke loose for 248 yards and 3 TDs on 19 carries in Centura’s 40-7 victory over Amherst. Grabowski now has an even 300 rushing yards after three games.
*Landon Roth, Zeb Reil-Milford - Eagles QB Landon Roth completed 13 of 17 passes for 197 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Milford’s 35-14 victory over Wilber Clatonia. Zeb Reil caught six of those 13 passes for 97 yards and caught both of Roth’s scoring strikes.
*Austin Scheuler, Caleb Sheets, Gavin Dean-Fremont Bergan - Knight’s QB Austin Scheuler hit 14 of 25 passes for a whopping 307 yards and a trio of touchdowns but Bergan up short in 21-20 loss to Class C-2’s #1 Hartington Cedar Catholic. Caleb Sheets grabbed six of those passes for 80 yards and a pair of scores while teammate Gavin Dean hauled in three passes for 166 yards and a touchdown in the loss. I have a sneaking suspicion that this is not the last meeting between these two stalwarts this season.
*Jett Thomalla, Amarion Jackson-Millard South - Alabama recruit Jett Thomalla completed 14 of 17 passes for 291 yards and SIX touchdowns in Millard South’s 72-0 spanking of Kearney. Fellow Super-Stater Amerion Jackson grabbed four of those passes for 103 yards and a pair of scores in the win.
*Preston Komenda, Kenyon Miller, Maxomes Aguilera-Fillmore Central - Junior QB Preston Komenda completed 22 of 30 passes for 381 yards and 3 TDs in Fillmore's wild 42-41 loss to Palmyra. The two teams combined for 953 yards of total offense in the game. Classmate Kenyon Miller caught 6 passes for 164 yards and a pair of TDs while sophomore Maxomes Aguilera had 10 catches for 99 yards with a TD. Defensively Komenda had eight tackles while Aguilera added six stops.
*David Stansberry, Leyton Mapson, Levi Tramp Palmyra - QB David Stansberry completed 14 of his 28 pass attempts for 314 yards and FIVE touchdowns in Palmyra's 42-41 win over Fillmore Central. Leyton Mapson caught 5 of those passes for 198 yards (39.6/catch) and 3 TDs and added 10 tackles defensively. Levi Tramp led the Palmyra ground game with 136 yards and a score on 19 carries.
*Madden Brabec, Jace Stewart, Briggs Doane-Wood River - Speedy Eagles QB Madden Brabec completed 16 of 28 passes for 244 yards and 4 TDs in Wood River’s 41-8 conquest of Fairbury. Small but mighty Jace Stewart caught 5 passes for 143 yards with a pair of touchdowns. Jace also ran for 65 yards and a TD on 8 carries in the game. On the defensive side, sophomore Briggs Doane was his usual self, making 9 tackles, 8 of which were solo stops.
*Parker Volk, Jack Poppe, Max Ross Doniphan-Trumbull - Cardinals QB Parker Volk completed 18 of 27 passes for 179 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Doniphan-Trumbull's 18-16 loss to Lincoln Lutheran. Multiple All-State football/basketball sensation Jack Poppe caught 11 of Volk’s passes for 104 yards and a touchdown, while big Max Ross was a demon on defense recording 12 tackles (2 TFL).
