1000 Yard Guy's 2012/2013 All-State Boys Basketball Teams
Posted Saturday, March 16, at 10:33 PM
This may have been one of the toughest years I have had picking two of these classes. Class C-2, and D-2 were especially difficult. The main factor for me is not having all-state ballots that have been filled out by coaches. The four other outlets that publish high school all-state teams in Nebraska are the Omaha World-Herald, Lincoln Journal-Star, Huskerland Prep Report, and the Associated Press news service. All but the AP has ballots sent in by coaches...

The Lady Vikings never wavered
Posted Saturday, March 2, at 11:39 PM

I never see every home game any high school team plays. Not in football, not in any sport. But this winter I somehow convinced some folks at Northwest high school to give me the best seat in Rosencrants gym which enabled me to watch the Northwest Lady Vikings basketball team. ...

Most successful Class A hoops programs the past decade
Posted Friday, February 8, at 11:55 PM

Well, no surprise here as we glace at Class A on the eve of the monumental game featuring Omaha Central and Oak Hill Academy. Many fans may be alarmed at Lincoln High making the list, but the Links have not been that bad in the past decade. As strong as Lincoln Northeast was in the 90's, the Rockets have just not enjoyed the success it achieved in those glory years. In fact, the past 3 season have only produced 18 wins...

Top Ten Class "B" boys basketball programs in the last Decade.
Posted Thursday, February 7, at 5:51 PM

When doing this Class, I had more than a sneaking suspicion that Beatrice might be the Kings, but never did I dream the winning percentage the Orangemen had compiled the past 10 seasons under splendid coach Jimmy Weeks. Lord in Heaven, their winning percentage was nearly 85 percent! How in the world do you accomplish this and in the process outdistance every other program by at least 16% in winning percentage...

Who's the Best Class C-1 Boys basketball program in the last decade?
Posted Wednesday, February 6, at 11:35 PM

So, in this era of "now", who in the world would even think 5 years back, let alone ten seasons ago? Young men that are seniors roaming the hardwoods of Nebraska high school basketball these days were a mere 7 years old "back in the day" and probably couldn't fathom an answer. They don't teach that kind of history in school, ya know. More important things that that, I agree. But it is imperative we give credit where credit is due and that is exactly what we will do here...

He has scored every single one of his teams points in a half. ...

Here is a brief peek at C-1 and how things are shaking out going into tonight's (Thursday) games. District 4's status should be filed under (crying shame) for the simple fact all five teams are ranked in the top 18 in the NSAA's most recent wild card standings. ...

4th quarter surge lifts Sutton to 36-18 triumph over Doniphan-Trumbull
Posted Wednesday, November 14, at 1:23 AM

It was a classic rematch between two of Class C-2's best, and it was the stifling defense, plus the running of junior quarterback Cole Wiseman that lifted the Sutton Mustangs to a 36-16 repeat win over Doniphan-Trumbull Tuesday evening in Sutton. Playing in front of a huge crowd and a classic playoff atmosphere, the Mustangs found a way to put the clamps on 2000 yard rusher Jordan Slough and rode a dominating 2nd half to earn a trip to Memorial Stadium to play for it all...

2nd Quarter momentum swing turns close game into 52-13 Norris win. For more than a quarter and a half it looked like two heavyweight fighters exchanging punches, but in a matter of 4:35 seconds and a couple of timely, costly 15 yard Aurora penalties, Norris scored twice and never looked back. ...
