2025 NEMFCA 8-Man Hall of Fame Inductee Salutes - Casey Nelson, Newman Grove High School

CASEY NELSON – NEWMAN GROVE HIGH SCHOOL

From 1993 to 1996, Casey was a generational player for Hall of Fame Coach Bill Mimick and the Bluejays. In his prep career, he dominated both sides of the ball and was a multi-time selection to both the All-Cornhusker Conference and All-State teams, while also setting school records for tackles along the way. In 1997, Casey was chosen to play for the East squad in the 20th Annual Eight-Man All-Star game and then went on to fulfill a lifelong dream of playing for the University of Nebraska. While in Lincoln, he became a Lifter of the Year finalist, an Academic All-Big 12 selection, and a proud member of the famed Nebraska “Blackshirt” Defense. In his standout 2001 senior season, Casey played along the Defensive Line in every game for the Cornhuskers and was named Player of the Game on 4 separate occasions. Over the span of his college career, he was a major contributor on two Conference Championship Teams, one National Championship team, and another Husker squad that challenged for the National Championship in the 2002 Rose Bowl. Casey is most proud of being developed by and playing for legendary coaches in both high school and college. The NEMFCA is honored to now welcome him into the Eight-Man Hall of Fame Class of 2025.

*1000 Yard Guy Sez ; Without a doubt, one of the toughest 8-Man players I have ever seen. Nelson struck fear into the hearts of anybody with a football in their hands back in his Newman Grove days, as well as his days with the Huskers. Another young man in my “Pure Football Player” category.
