2009 Bobby Mills 1000 Yard Club

This is the 35th Edition of the 1000 Yard Club list. I started compiling these statistics in 1975 at the urging of my late Father-In-Law, Ken Baker. This season had some special moments and one of them was the addition of 4 members to the prestigious 5000 Yard Career Rushing Club which has only 26 members since football began in this state.

85 runners hit the 1000 yard mark in '09. 67 were Seniors, 16 Juniors, 1 Sophomore, and a rare Freshman comprise the list. A record 12 Class A backs were able to run for over a grand this year and Seth Hoffman, a 190 pounder form Shelby became only the 4th Freshman to hit the thousand yard mark in history, gaining 1,147 yards. He will have the opportunity to be only the 4th back ever to rush for a 1000 yards all four seasons.

Elkhorn, Humboldt-TRS, and Hastings St. Cecilia each had two players make the list. The big highlight of 2009 was that a record EIGHT backs ran for over 2000 yards.
