2026 NEMFCA 8-Man Hall of Fame Inductee Salutes - Clint Belina, Howells High School

This is our fourth of fifteen 2026 Nebraska Eight Man Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductees. We proudly salute the multi-record setting Clint Belina of Howells..
CLINT BELINA – HOWELLS HIGH SCHOOL
From 2006 to 2009, Clint was the offensive focal point for Hall of Fame Coach Mike Speirs’ powerful Bobcat teams. In his electrifying junior and senior campaigns alone, he led Howells to back-to-back Class D-1 State Titles, running for 2,478 yards and 41 touchdowns as a junior, and adding another 2,647 yards and 53 touchdowns as a senior. During that run, he also set state records for yards, TD’s, and points in a playoff series. In total, Clint ran for 6,626 yards and 107 touchdowns in his career and was honored multiple times including: 1st Team All-District, 1st Team All-State, and Class D-1 Offensive Player of the Year. He was also selected to the All-Class/All-Nebraska Football Team in both the Omaha World Herald and the Lincoln Journal Star and later named to Huskerland Prep Report’s All-Decade Team. In the summer of 2010, Clint was also selected to play in both the Eight Man All-Star Game and the Nebraska Shrine Bowl.
After high school, he went on to continue his football career at Augustana University in South Dakota. He is most proud of the part he played in the Howells Football tradition and working alongside outstanding teammates and coaches to build what many consider the premier Eight-Man Football Dynasty of the 2000’s. The NEMFCA is honored to welcome him into the Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

*1000 Yard Guy sez…..Not too many 8-Man running backs that have more Career Rushing yards than the remarkable Clint Belina.Four to be exact. Not too many 11-Man RBs have gained more. Exactly Two. All totaled, only seven backs in Nebraska prep football history are ahead of Belina in Career rushing yards, including one from the 6-Man ranks.
Clint Belina played two years of 11-Man and two years of 8-Man football, running for an astounding 5,125 of his total 6,626 yards during his junior and senior seasons in the 8-Man ranks. Clint Belna was so extraordinary, he was the Nation’s leading returning 8-Man rusher entering his senior season at Howells.
Blockers like 6-1, 201 lb Cody Hegemann and 6-3, 235 lb Mitch Tomky paved the way for Belina on Mike Speirs’ famous pitch sweeps that opponents KNEW was coming yet could not stop.
How fitting is it that Clint Belina and his phenomenal Head Coach Mike Speirs are entering the NEMFCA the same year.
