2025 NEMFCA 8-Man Hall of Fame Inductee Salutes - Bill Zeigelbein, Polk High School

BILL ZEIGELBEIN- POLK HIGH SCHOOL
From 1983 to 1986, Bill was a dominating presence on both sides of the line of scrimmage and one of the very best all-around players of his era. In that span, he helped put together an epic run for himself, his team, and the entire community of Polk. Bill was a key building block in a football program that ran off four consecutive undefeated regular seasons in the 1980’s and in his prolific senior season of 1986, he helped lead the Cubs all the way to the Class D-1 State Semifinals. He was honored multiple times as 1st Team All-Conference and 1st Team All-State selection at the Linebacker position. To top off his decorated prep career, Bill was also selected to play in the Eight-Man All-Star Game and the Nebraska Shrine Bowl in the summer of 1987. After high school, he proudly represented Nebraska Eight-Man football as a walk-on letter winner at the University of Nebraska. During his career in Lincoln, Bill started at Center, was named an Academic All-American in 1991, and played a key role for the Huskers on two Big Eight Conference Championship teams (1988, 1991). Throughout his life, Bill was well-known by all of his coaches, teammates, and loved ones for his incredible work ethic, effort, and leadership. The NEMFCA is honored to welcome him into the Hall of Fame Class of 2025.
*1000 Yard Guy Sez; A man among boys in high school football. I witnessed that at Polk moire than one time. The Huskers thought so too.
