2026 NEMFCA 8-Man Hall of Fame Inductee Salutes - Taylor Dixon, Wauneta-Palisade High School

This is our eleventh of fifteen 2026 Nebraska Eight Man Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductees. We proudly salutes one of 8-Man football’s most extraordinarily brilliant two-way players, the fabulous Taylor Dixon of Wauneta-Palisade.
TAYLOR DIXON – WAUNETA-PALISADE H.S.
From 2004 to 2007, Taylor had an outstanding career for the Broncos while playing for legendary Coach Randy Geier. As a dual-threat quarterback on offense and ‘downhill’ linebacker on defense, he led his team to four consecutive playoff appearances, including deep runs in both his junior (semi-finals) and senior (quarterfinals) campaigns. In that span, his career totals of 2,845 passing yards (36 TD’s) and 4,482 rushing yards (63 TD’s) propelled the entire football program to state-wide prominence. Along the way, Taylor was named 1st Team All-Area 3-times, 1st Team All-District 3-times and 1st Team All-State linebacker on two occasions.
In the summer of 2008, he was selected to play in the Eight Man All-Star Game, the Western Nebraska All-Star Game and was also honored as the most valuable offensive player of the Kansas vs. Nebraska All-Star Game.
Taylor then moved on to Lincoln as a preferred walk-on for the Cornhuskers- where he became a letter-winner and a member of the Brook Beringer Citizenship Team. He is most proud of his family, teammates, and coaches, giving him the opportunity to show that it’s possible to go from playing Eight-Man Football in Southwest Nebraska to our state’s highest level at the University of Nebraska. The NEMFCA is honored to welcome him into the Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

*1000 Yard Guy sez…..There are not many players I respected more than the “All-American Boy”, Taylor Dixon. He really did wake up high school football fans around the state to take notice of Wauneta-Palsade high school. After running for 1,577 yards a sophomore, opposing defenses began to key on Dixon but that didn’t stop Taylor from rushing for 1,101 yards as a junior, then becoming a terrific Dual-Threat quarterback his senior year, running for 1,o46 yards and throwing for an additional 1,037 big ones.
In addition to his stellar offensive performances, Dixon was an All-State Linebacker (twice), an honorable mention all-state basketball star and a fine 200/400 meter track standout, placing in both at the State Track Meet. No wonder Nebraska football coaches were all over this Wa-Pa sensation.
I might also add that Taylor Dixon is a fine high school football official, which I witnessed first hand.
