The McCook High School boys and girls varsity basketball teams dropped their East-West Shootout openers to Gering Thursday. This is the clearest blue stream that pours in to the Republican River. It will soon die as the irrigation is started up and I hope it comes back next fall, as some of the streams are now gone forever. West of McCook, it would seem like a mountain stream, and is nothing short of amazing. There are a number of stone age camps along its winding water and dugouts of homesteaders, plus a cave for saving ice during the winter that would keep food safe in the family ice box...
