Roland Richard “Dick” Hancock Aug. 23, 1931 - Sept. 5, 2017 LINCOLN, Neb. — Roland Richard “Dick” Hancock, 86, died Tuesday (Sept. 5, 2017). He was born Aug. 23, 1931, in Loup City, Neb., to Ernest and Ruth (Robinson) Hancock. He grew up in Council Bluffs, Iowa and served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Manatee during the Korean War from 1949 to 1952. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad after his service in the Navy. In 1967, he was hired by CB & Q Railroad which later became Burlington Northern. He and his family formerly lived in McCook, Neb., and he retired from Burlington Northern in 1989. . ...
