At first without adequate air conditioning and proper disposal of feces. 2. 30-plus breeding animals purchased from a breeder who was to be closed by the state for improper care and living conditions for 170-plus animals used for breeding purposes. ...

Electrical short blamed for Monday fire

OBERLIN?-- A fire that burned a rural Oberlin farmstead and 1,500 acres of pasture and wheat stubble between Oberlin and Cedar Bluffs Monday afternoon started when an electrical short near a farm outbuilding ignited nearby grass. Decatur County Fire Chief Bill Cathcart of Oberlin said that outbuildings and an uninhabited house on the Willa Urban farmstead were destroyed, and flames were fanned north for 3 1/2 miles by 20-30-mile-an-hour winds. ...
