Nebraska lawmakers overrode Gov. Dave Heineman's veto of LB245, which will require Nebraska cities or villages with populations of 1,000 or more to fluoridate their water -- unless voters decide otherwise. It's not as radical a move as it seems; fluoridation was mandated in 1973, and although cities and villages were allowed to opt out of the mandate at that time, there was no provision for reconsidering that decision...

Thursday, Governor Heineman vetoed LB245 and LB245A. His reasoning was that it lacked enough funding and was virtually an unfunded mandate from the state and hence, would place a burden on citizens and communities with increased property taxes levied to pay for the fluoridation. That is true of course, and enough to veto this legislation; but the health hazards coupled with the lack of promised benefits resulting from fluoridation of public water systems should be paramount!...

I would like to say thank you to the McCook Community Concert Association for arranging to have "Riders in the Sky" come to McCook. What an awesome show! They are the reason I bought our season tickets. Yes, their music was "western," but it's history and memories for all of us. The singing was fantastic and their humor wholesome...

He is a scientific and technological wizard who can't spell science or technology with any amount of accuracy.
