Psalm 114 Paraphrased
Psalm 114 Paraphrased
By Arley Steinhour 042814
Psa 114:1 When Israel went out of Egypt,
the house of Jacob from
a people of strange language;
[Ten Plagues, the price as Exit money,
House of Jacob then may depart,
For the land of milk and honey,
Four Hundred Years, it took to start.]
Psa 114:2 Judah was his sanctuary,
and Israel his dominion.
[First Born's Tribe, Judah, eldest clan,
Of the Twelve, God's Ruling Tribe,
(All to follow Moses, as God's Head Man,)
Of Israel, proclaimed, God's Domain.]
Psa 114:3 The sea saw it, and fled:
Jordan was driven back.
[God's breath, made Red sea step aside,
To allow Israel, from Egypt, expiation,
Forty years later, the Jordan complied,
With Feet dry, finished homeland, immigration.]
Psa 114:4 The mountains skipped like rams,
and the little hills like lambs.
[Joy ran rampant through the land,
Mountains skipped about like fattened Rams,
But, not as lightly as the hills of sand,
As they shook and danced like lambs.]
Psa 114:5 What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou
fleddest? thou Jordan, that
thou wast driven back?
[What prompted you, great sea, called Red,
That you should flee the breath of God,
And, you, oh Jordan with great river bed,
Driven back by Arc, with stones God's finger had trod?]
Psa 114:6 Ye mountains, that ye skipped like
rams; and ye little hills, like lambs?
Psa 114:7 Tremble, thou earth, at the
presence of the Lord, at the
presence of the God of Jacob;
[Mountainous Governments, smaller too,
You skipped about while God was watching,
Now, Tremble before His Return to you,
To set aside, 'Dry Ground, for Israel's fetching.]
Psa 114:8 Which turned the rock into a standing
water, the flint into a fountain of waters.
[Behold the God of Israel, and World,
Turning 'rock into 'living' lake, for son and daughter,
Fed by flowing water from Temple flint, unfurled
Harbinger of You, our Fountain of Living Water.]
AMEN
