  • Four running back, but only three offensive linemen? Six linebackers and only two defensive lineman? Son, you need to find a cut-off point.

  • Mr. Chunky...First of of, thank you for addressing me as "Son". You just made my day because I turn 63 on December 11th and recently retired in January. Here is the story on my All-State selections. There are only 4 outlets that do these selections to my knowledge: Omaha World-Herald, Lincoln Journal-Star, Huskerland Prep Report, and myself. They all are paid employees and all have all state nominations submitted to them. I do this to promote high school football because of my love for the sport. Nobody sends me nominations. I see around 30 games a year and many coaches from around the state send me game film because they know I love to observe.

If you are going to be in the know on lineman, you have to have nominations. To be honest, I should have put Southeast's entire "O"-Line on all-state. But,I only pick lineman I have seen, and the only Omaha team I saw this season was Burke. I agree with your statement that my teams are not balanced, but I do the best I can with what I have. You sound like a coach and if you were, I'm betting you were a good one.

Thank you for your input. (:

  • Nope, was never a coach. Was once a very enthusiastic player and now an enthusiastic spectator. Thank you for your reply.

  • CPB quote "Was once a very enthusiastic player"

Translation- Stood on the sidelines and cheered for the varsity.

  • Congratulations to the great players on this list! One question . . . Why isn't Carson Collins from Omaha Burke on here?? That kid is unbelievable!!

  • I was just wondering why you choose one of the Lincoln Southeast Bookends and not the other? This is especially puzzling since the other bookend had more sacks, tackles, and fumble recoveries. Thoughts?

  • I 110% agree with "Big Football Fan" and I am sure there are many others out there scratching their heads. Why wasn't Carson Collins on your list?? You must have not had the opportunity to watch one of the best players of this season.

  • Carson Collins is a good player. And I have seen a lot of film on him. He should be on this list, but so should the three linemen who "handled" him during the year. The truth is that this list will never include all of the players that it should. It is just a compilation of players that caught the eye of news people (some of whom do and do not really know football). This, however, should not take away from the fact that all of the players listed here are good at what they do, and deserving of all the accolades they have and will receive. Make a great day.
