Week Two Friday Night Lights Football Heroes 11-Man

*Tristan Campbell, Trenton Raile, Miles Pollmann, Ian Spearman, Gabe Roberts, Tate Schafer, Simon Garcia, Trey Tiller, Bison O-Line-McCook - 1000 yard rusher Tristan Campbell was a bright star in McCook's thrilling come from behind 27-20 victory over Aurora. Campbell rushed for 156 yards on 28 carries with a trio of TD runs covering 5, 3 and 25 yards. On defense he caused 3 fumbles, made 10 tackles and recovered one of those fumbles. Quarterback Trenton Raile was 7 of 13 passing for 119 yards with a 68 yard touchdown pass to Miles Pollmann, who caught 3 aerials for 81 yards plus the touchdown. Ian Spearman, son of Sutton Mustang legend John Spearman, made 9 tackles on defense and intercepted a pass. Gabe Roberts also made 9 tackles, Tate Schafer logged 8 tackles while Simon Garcia and Troy Tiller each made seven stops defensively for McCook, who TWICE stopped Aurora inside the Bison FIVE yard line.
AND, a shout out to that explosive McCook Offensive Line, who has one of the most powerful surges off the line of scrimmage I’ve witnessed in quite some time.
Those Bison O-Linemen, from left to right in the accompanying photo are: #45 TE Gabe Roberts (6-1, 215, Sr), #64 OT Simon Garcia (6-0, 200, Sr), #78 OG Eidos Klein (6-2, 295, Sr), #55 C Trey Tiller (6-2, 200, Sr), #53 OG Cole Walter (6-0, 205, Sr), #67 OT Isaac Sonnenberg (6-6, 225, Sr) and #42 TE Kooper Rakes (6-1, 225, Jr). Pictured next to me is THEE Tristan Campbell RB (5-11, 165, Sr).
*Jaydon Sutko-Elkhorn South - The 6-2, 225 lb Sutko, who runs like a Sherman Tank in high octane Overdrive, exploded for 304 yards on a staggering 39 carries with touchdown runs covering 4, 17 and 2 yards, in the Storm’s big 24-17 come from behind victory over Bellevue West. Could this young man be the BEST running back in the state?
*Tyion Francis, Sawyer Anderson, Eli Greenwall-Cross County - Junior RB Tyion Francis, who is faster than a sneeze through a screen door, exploded for 174 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries in Cross County’s 46-7 win over Gibbon. Quarterback Sawyer Anderson was also sharp in the game, completing seven of nine passes for 137 yards and two scores. Both of Anderson's touchdown passes were hauled in by sophomore Eli Greenwall, who caught 2 passes for 74 yards including the touchdown journeys of 56 and 19 yards.
*Edwin Alarcon, Mason Timmerman-Norfolk Catholic - 6-2, 225 lb offensive lineman Edwin Alarcon booted field goals covering 29, 34 and 33 yards as Norfolk Catholic outscored Boone Central 23 to 6 in the 4th quarter, earning the Knights a 32-26 comeback win over the Cardinals. One of the real standouts for Catholic was All-State senior Mason Timmerman, who made big play after big play on defense with his 11 tackles. On offense Timmerman scored rushing touchdowns from 7 and four yards out, the latter TD run coming with 11 seconds left in the game. The win prevented the defending Class C-2 state champions from beginning the season 0-2.
*Kip Brigham, Harrison Krueger, Eli Shada, Logan Kelly, Kaden Christen-Wahoo - Speedy, shifty, quick-as-a-wink RB Kip Brigham ripped off 252 yards on 19 touches with touchdown sprints of 71, 19 and 80 yards in Wahoo's big 28-0 victory over powerful Ashland Greenwood. Harrison Krueger was a sparkler on the Warrior’s defensive side, logging 15 stops (3 TFL) and turning in an electrifying 88 yard fumble scoop and score. Eli Shada wasn’t far behind with his13 tackles (3 TFL). Logan Kelly returned an interception 33 yards for a score and was in on five tackles while Kaden Christen made 3 tackles and intercepted a pair of A-G passes.
Can this Wahoo team be stopped?
*Bo Gable-Gering - Romped for 191 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns in a 46-14 victory over Mitchell.
*Parker Volk, Jack Poppe-Doniphan-Trumbull - The Cardinals pass catch duo was once again lethal in their 35-22 victory over Centura. Volk completed 17 of 20 passes for 352 yards and 4 touchdowns, giving him 35 of 56 passes for 644 yards and 9 touchdowns after the first two games of the season. Do It All Jack Poppe caught 10 passes for 181 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Centura game, giving him 23 catches for 504 yards and four touchdowns thus far in the 2025 season.
*Jett Thomalla, Nelsyn Wheeler, Amerion Jackson, Teagan Urban, Patriots “D”- Millard South - Thomalla connected on 11 of 16 aerials for 226 yards and 3 TDs in the Patriots 65-0 thumping of Millard West. Nelsyn Wheeler had 135 yards on just five carries which included a 99 yard touchdown run. Amerion Jackson caught 5 passes for 109 yards which included two touchdowns. All in all, 10 different receivers caught passes for Millard South.
Teagan Urban made 11 tackles on defense, while as a team, Millard South recorded a staggering 28 tackles for losses which included six sacks, 2 block punts, and two recovered fumbles.
*Ethan Beachy-Elkhorn North - Hit 18 of 25 passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-7 victory over York. Nine different Elkhorn North receivers had receptions in the game.
*Owen Price, Connor Haney, Jaxon Gangwish, Braylon Wolfe-GICC - Sophomore Price (9 tackles, 3 TFL, 2 sacks), senior Haney (8 tackles) junior Braylon Wolfe (3 tackles) ALL recorded interceptions in the Crusaders 27-7 win at Malcolm. Sophomore Gangwish added 8 stops in the game.
*Logan Grosdidier-Platteview - QB was good on 12 of 17 passes for 219 yards and a touchdown in Platteview’s 27-13 victory over Lexington.
*Jaron Canon-Omaha North - Viking star RB zoomed for 219 yards and a pair of scores on 22 carries in Omaha North’s 27-21 victory over Papillion La Vista.
*Levi Walker-Plattsmouth - Rushed 32 times for 249 yards with a pair of touchdowns in a 28 to 19 victory over Elkhorn High. Walker also caught three passes for 35 yards and logged 4 tackles on defense.
*Trini Trejo-Alliance - The Bulldog junior is already halfway to his 2nd 1000 yard season after rambling for 254 yards on 25 carries and two touchdowns in a 28 to 14 victory over Holdrege. The Alliance sensation has 579 yards on the ground in just TWO games.
*Ben Flesner-Arlington - Bolted for 189 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown in Arlington's 27-6 victory over Conestoga.
*Tay Tay Jenkins, Braylon Warren, Mo Purify-Omaha Westside - The amazing Jenkins went for 219 big ons on 18 carries and a pair of TDs in Westside’s 42-0 win over Omaha Burke. QB Braylon Warren hit 10 of 14 passes for 115 yards and 4 touchdowns. Mo Purify was on the receiving end of two of those Warren TD throws.
*Markus Nelson, Evan Greenfield-Norris - Nelson shredded Gretna’s defense for 199 yards on 22 totes and 2 TDs in the Titans 52-35 win over the Dragons. QB Evan Greenfield added 99 yards and THREE TDs on 13 carries. Greenfield also hit 5 of 6 passes for 90 yards and a score and was 7 for 7 on PATS. He also booted a 31 yard field goal in the win. This Norris team is GOOD!
*Michael Knudsen, Bryce Lakers, Ayden Furstenau-Gretna - QB Michael Knudsen completed 24 of 34 passes for 232 yards and two TDs in that 52-35 loss to Norris. Favorite target Bryce Lakers caught 7 passes for 109 yards and a score. Sophomore RB Ayden Furstenau had a nice night, running for 84 yards and 2 TDs on 18 carries and added 5 pass receptions for 50 yards and another score..
*Will Gutz, Ty Bouaphakeo, Jack Russell, Lane Molacek-Bennington - Gutz ran for 130 yards and a TD on 13 carries and a touchdown in the Badgers 46-27 win over Gretna East. QB Ty Bouaphakeo 12 of 21 for 86 yards but THREE were scoring strikes. Jack Russell grabbed 2 of those touchdown receptions while sophomore Lane Molacek caught 3 passes for 30 yards and returned a kickoff 80 yards for a score.
*Tillman Melscheimer-Gretna East - Sophomore quarterback for Gretna East filled in for starter Chase Grow after he threw one pass and left the game with an injury in the 46-27 loss to Bennington. Young Melscheimer completed 16 of 24 passes for 213 yards and a touchdown with 2 INTs in the loss. Still a pretty impressive showing despite the two picks.
*Wyatt Worlie, Baron Clevenger-Elkhorn High - Junior RB Wyatt Worlie rushed 28 times for 176 yards and a touchdown in that 28 to 19 loss to Plattsmouth, while Antler QB Baron Clevenger hit 12 of 18 passes for 196 yards and a score.
*Henry Prokup, Trenton Ernst-Lincoln Lutheran - QB Henry Prokup connected on 14 of 23 tosses for 183 yards and 3 TDs and ran 25 times for 79 yards in the Warriors 35-14 win over Auburn. Ernst had 8 receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown. Trenton also launched 3 punts for an average of 40 yards each and was a demon on defense, pirating THREE Bulldog passes, one going for a Pick Six.
*Landon Roth, Isaac Roth-Milford - QB Landon Roth was true on 14 of 21 passes for 209 yards and 3 TDs in the Eagles 42-20 win over Louisville. Isaac Roth caught 6 of Landon’s throws, good for 123 yards and a pair of TDs. He also logged 7 tackles in the contest.
