2025 NEMFCA 8-Man Hall of Fame Inductee Salutes - Coach Dick Scott, Sidney St. Patrick’s High School

COACH DICK SCOTT – SIDNEY ST. PATRICK’S HIGH SCHOOL
Dick’s journey began in the mid-1960’s playing Eight-Man high school football in Merriman, Nebraska, but he is most well-known for the powerful Sidney St. Pat’s teams he coached in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Beginning in 1975 as one of the original 4-teams to participate in the 8-Man state playoffs, Coach Scott built the Shamrocks into one of the state’s premier football programs over the next 15 seasons. From 1975 to 1989, he amassed a coaching record of 101 wins, 41 losses, and 1 tie, while taking 6 of his teams to the state playoffs and making the quarterfinals or better on 5 of those occasions. Coach Scott then led his team to the top of the mountain during the 1986 season as they were undefeated Class D-2 State Champions and later finished the 1987 season as State Runner-Up. Dick was also in on the ground floor of organization for the Nebraska Eight Man Coaches Association and the very first 8-Man All Star game. He was honored as an All-Star assistant coach in 1979 and then served as the West Head Coach in 1981. Over the years, Coach Scott sent 5 athletes to participate in the All-Star game (including fellow Hall of Famer Nolan Beyer). The NEMFCA is honored to welcome him into the Hall of Fame Class of 2025.
