All Quiet on the Blog Front

Posted Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at 10:04 PM

Now that the majority of the trouble makers have been purged from this website, something that I have been urging for months, it is time for all of us to take a breath.

It did interest me though, that when the "conservative" posters were being kicked off the site, the anger was up front about how their First Amendment Rights (specifically freedom of speech) were being violated. Yet when the "liberal" posters also began to be kicked off the site, most of the those same posters were eerily quiet. You know who you are and I will not elaborate on it further. I will just simply say what I have been saying from the beginning. When you sign up to post or blog on this website you agree to the websites terms of services. If you violate them, the site administrators are within the rules to expel you off the site.

It really is as simple as that. It was never a freedom of speech issue.

Which leads me to another point. I have grown tired of the people that yell the loudest that their rights are being violated when people disagree with them. For those people all I have to say is that you really need to actually read the Constitution if you truly believe that someone disagreeing with or pointing out that you are wrong is not a violation of your freedom of speech. Neither is losing your Miss America crown.

Back to the front end of this story. I put Conservative and Liberals in quotes earlier because I do not believe that the people who have been booted to this point actually have a political ideology. Two in particular (GI and the person of 1000 names but mostly known as Steffani) were nothing more than flamers. What came out when GI was finally booted off the site would not surprise me if GI and Steffani were the same person or at least they knew each other outside of the website. What flamers do is go on websites and purposely say things that will ignite or inflame the passions of other people. Flamers will always get someone or a group of people to follow them in the abyss. I know that I have fallen victim to it many times and I apologize that at time I could not follow my own suggestions of not responding to them. As everyone who is passionate about anything will attest to, if anyone challenges your way of thinking and belief and they do it with inflammatory language it is hard not to get sucked in.

This sudden quietness will not last long. Eventually new flamers will show up. Some of the posters that are still left that at times can be as bad as a flamer will eventually ramp back up. For the time being however let us, all of us that take the time out to actually blog what we are feeling or the news or sports of the day, enjoy the relative silence that has swept over our blog home over the last week. It has been peaceful.

It is just a shame that it will not last.

E-Gads, my 'Fing-ears' are ringing with all the silence. Since you started, this is the very first time, I have had the opportunity to blog, first-up. That's why I am typing now. Just for the fun of it. Ha.

Many a time, I desired to offer a remark about a subject, but the few times I did, proved dangerous. So, I mostly yelled at the wall, and turned off the PC and the lights.

I don't often agree with you, Michael, but as long as things are civil, I will probably offer my opinions every once in a while. Thanks, for clearing up Sheol.

Navy, you and I often do not agree on topics. You have always, without fail, offered your opinions with the utmost respect to all bloggers and posters, and for that I thank you.

When did this purge happen?

Wallis

@Wallis Haven't you noticed how boring it is around here now?

*sigh* @wallis

When a person yells that there rights are being violated, it's because they are playing the part of a victim. You know how we all love being the victim. It draws attention to us, and if we don't get our way we sometimes throw a tantrum.

We have a different type of flamers out here in California, in fact we have an abundance of them. They sometimes play the part of the victim, but don't we all.

eddy,

Aren't you trolling the wrong blog for those comments? While you're self-editing you might also want to change your "quite" to "quiet" it being a common typing error.

Keda,

You should probably watch yourself as well, you are getting close to a flag-able offense.

I haven't noticed a liberal or conservative poster being kicked off. I don't exactly get updates on this sort of thing in my email.

-- Posted by McCook1 on Thu, Oct 28, 2010, at 10:03 AM

Now if we could only stop the political ads it would be really quiet.

Wallis, why don't you start a financial blog and update us on your trading models?

-- Posted by BuffRoam on Thu, Oct 28, 2010, at 12:42 PM

So you haven't noticed that GI, Dr. Loud, the poster of many names (Steffanie, G5, just to name a couple) all gone, McCook?

Either you guys (McCook1 and Wallis) are just blind or once again trying to stir something up. My guess is you are you trying to pretend that you didn't raise a fuss when the "conservative" posters were banned from the site but strangely remained quiet when the "liberal" posters received the same fate.

-- Posted by MichaelHendricks on Thu, Oct 28, 2010, at 1:17 PM

Lighten up Mike. Why do you need to control everyone? Perhaps they have lives outside the blog and didn't realize what was going on. I would like to hear what they have to say.

On the Political scene, this new silence sure fooled Mother Nature yesterday. She came in to the area all ready to blow loud enough to be heard over the political talk, and the thread was so silent, she couldn't catch her breath. Why, she almost blew two of my trees into Kansas, she was so surprised. Ha.

As long as I am here, may I say, that I pray, that our voting citizens, will, before they go to the poll, absorb some information about where the candidates stand on the issues, and not simply vote for, or against, one genre of thought.

We, the People, need to re-become active in our governmental decision making process, and inform our 'Representatives,' they work for us, not the other way round. Our Governmental system is Republican, using Democratic methodology.

In short, the people elected 'Represents' the will of the People, and the Democratic system says the majority (repeat: MAJORITY) carries the subject, into law, which the entire population stands behind, no matter what. That doesn't mean we can't complain, just that we don't pick up our ball and glove, and go home pouting. Nuff Said.

Gosh, that was fun, and my fingers didn't have to shout over the din of trouble-making bloggers. Ha, again.

OK, folks, the silence is broken. Respond as you will, but with respect to the 'Old Guy,' or I will pick up my glove and ball, and go home, pouting. Ooops, that slipped out.

Yeee-Haaa, and AMEN Keeping the Watch for He who Watches over this Watcher, Watching.

An interesting bit to stir up some controversy. Apparently AZ new immigration law is a bit of good old capitalism..

I know this will shock you into submission Navy but I absolutely agree with you.

Everyone should vote and those that vote should be informed when they go vote instead of just voting straight party line or picking the one with the best hair and teeth (don't laugh it happens).

Thanks for the advice SWNebr Transplant

Great advice Michael, a great example of this is Alvin M Green of South Carolina. Look this guy up, it will blow your mind.

-- Posted by Keda46 on Fri, Oct 29, 2010, at 9:38 AM

Mike,

I challenge you to find one instance where I raised a fuss over a conservative or liberal blogger being blocked. Steffanie hasn't been around for a long time. Sometimes people take a break from the blogs. I know I do, anyway. How would I know that's not what they're doing instead of assuming they were kicked off?

I haven't noticed GI because I haven't been on the blogs a whole lot. I'll comment here and there once in awhile but I'm growing tired of the attitude where each side always assumes the worst about the other like you are doing right now, assuming that because you have seen comments from conservative posters about something that they all did it. The only way I have to know when someone is kicked off is when someone says they were like now. This blog is the first I've heard of GI being kicked off. I don't usually comment on those things because it's not my site to decide who stays and who goes.

Just like talking to a wall....

"I'll comment here and there once in awhile but I'm growing tired of the attitude where each side always assumes the worst about the other like you are doing right now, assuming that because you have seen comments from conservative posters about something that they all did it."

I don't believe I grouped all conservatives into one group as you allege I do, but then again you don't need facts to charge me with doing it now do you? Maybe you took it that way because I specifically mentioned you, but again I never used the words you are charging me with. It is interesting though that you know exactly what I assume though I never actually made the comment.

Steffanie was also known as G5, Steff, and edmundburke among the memorable names. Though that poster never admitted to it, he or she let the cat out of the bag as edmundburke when he or she called me by a name that only Steffanie had called me which was almost a few year before the edmundburke came along.

I am also not talking about posters that take breaks. I am specifically talking about the posters whose posts are completely gone. They have been kicked off the site for continually violating the terms of service.

I do not know why you are fighting so hard against this. The way I look at it is that most the of the rubbish that had been simply posting to anger people and constantly violated the terms of service are now gone. This is actually a good thing. Because of it we have had a relatively quiet couple of weeks.

I do wonder which party will spend the interruption of the alleged bomb plot from Yemen for themselves going into Tuesday. I know it shouldn't be done, but we all know someone, soon, will make an attempt to spin it as good for them bad for the other party.

Michael - the thing you on the left will not admit, is that the hate in America is laid clearly at your feet. The left's hatred of America, and of average Americans, is so profound that you react like little kids when someone challenges your wrong notions.

The leftists that answer my blogs, lie all the time, personally smear me, and I never hear you say anything about it. Your buddy Guillermo (little Billy) has opined that he hopes I will get food poisoning and die. He once accused me of trying to coax fourteen year old girls into my truck. When I share personal observations, it is folks like you Mike, that call me a liar.

You have been a fan of censorship. Whenever the heat got to high, you - or your spouse - ran to the paper and cried about it.

I have stated, numerous times, that although I disagree with almost every word that proceeds from your face, I still try and maintain a level of respect for you, I can see you are a true leftist believer, and I respect someone with deeply held beliefs.

Many of your pals are just haters. They hate America, they hate working people, they hate Christians, they hate women and minorities that don't follow the leftist line. The true future of America means nothing to them, only their hate matters.

Unfortunately, you feed into their hate, and then you act so shocked when that hatred is returned to you. You slam America with the trash you have learned through your constant liberal indoctrination, so you are handicapped from seeing what is clearly laid before you.

Still, I pray for you Michael. I do, and you can laugh if you want, but I still believe you are capable of truth. It will be difficult, considering your environment, but I believe in the power of God, not my power.

I have confidence that one day, your eyes will be opened, and you'll discard this ugly liberalism of yours like the rags they are.

I think it was Churchill who said: "Everyone is a liberal until they have something to conserve."

Do you have anything serious to say Sam, or just once again preaching hate of people that don't look like, act like you, or believe like you.

Please, Sam, please, tell me where in the Bible it gives you the permission to hate those unlike you and to have the ability to call them sinners and tell them they are going to hell? Can you show or tell me? I've been looking for years and I can't find it.

-- Posted by MichaelHendricks on Sat, Oct 30, 2010, at 4:46 PM

Wow Mike, you got all that from Sam's post from just above? And some posters actually accuse you of making things up, or at least filling in the blanks with your own interpretations. The gall!

-- Posted by Chunky Peanut Butter on Sat, Oct 30, 2010, at 5:36 PM

What in the world are you talking about willis (sorry I mean CPB)?

I was asking Sam a simple question. I'll ask you the same. Where in the Bible does it tell people to hate others? Where in the Bible does it tell people that they can decide who are sinners and who is going to hell? I have been looking for years and have yet to find it.

As for the first paragraph it comes from the year or more of reading Sam's blogs and his absolute hate of all thing liberals. I don't believe I am making anything up. I mean this is the same person that got so personal that he started making rude comment about my wife and I about a year ago. I'm not making anything up.

-- Posted by MichaelHendricks on Sat, Oct 30, 2010, at 5:41 PM

Has pointing out the faults of liberalism the same as hating it. The Bible does not say we are to hate anyone, I do not know if Sam has ever preached hatred, real hatred, that is. As Christians, we know what sin is, and we are to point out sin to the sinners, quietly and personally. And if necessary, loudly. We are to hate sin, but be compassionate to the sinner, for they might want to change.

And why are you so concerned about the past? We had this discussion a while back.

-- Posted by Chunky Peanut Butter on Sat, Oct 30, 2010, at 6:14 PM

Those other posters told me "go drink some pops with your buddies at a gay bar in Houston". I bring it to Mike's attention and you say I lack integrity and that gets me a few personal attacks from you and those other guys.

That one still has me shaking my head.

These blogs needed cleaning up. I am glad "someone" made the call.

Wallis

-- Posted by wallismarsh on Sun, Oct 31, 2010, at 8:06 AM

Actually Wallis when you put statements in quotes you really need to make sure that you are putting real statements into the quotes. You completely made that up.

Senior Loud asked you to go to Numbers with him. That is all. I wouldn't expect you to tell the truth, though. It is quite astounding though that several posters posted links to gay bars in Texas and Numbers wasn't one of the. You were the only one that found ONE link. Asking you to go to a bar, gay or not, is not gay bashing and you should be ashamed for trying to make it so, but I know you are not.

You lack integrity because you consistently lie and post other people's personal information without their prior consent.

-- Posted by MichaelHendricks on Sun, Oct 31, 2010, at 12:37 PM

"As Christians, we know what sin is, and we are to point out sin to the sinners, quietly and personally. And if necessary, loudly."

Can you show me where in the Bible it says this Chunky? All I know about sin from the Bible is that (paraphrased) those with no sin shall cast the first stone. I am pretty sure there are also a couple of passages in the Bible telling followers that God isn't to happy with people that do His work for Him.

-- Posted by MichaelHendricks on Sun, Oct 31, 2010, at 12:39 PM

I realize this applies to Christians only, but there is Luke 17:3.

"Irony: Something that happens that is incongruous with what might be expected to happen, especially when this seems absurd or laughable."

I find it interesting that Mike's blog was touting the fact that no "flamers" were posting anymore and how nice and peaceful it is when in reality, I believe he was fishing for a "Flamer"

Well done Mike! Now you're back, you have something to do. Heck, you even have wallis and mccook1 chiming in. Tell me that wasn't your intention. Irony indeed.

-- Posted by Nick Mercy on Sun, Oct 31, 2010, at 3:40 PM

eddy,

I have a question for you. What exactly do you stand for? It is pretty clear what you stand against. All I hear from you are some half-baked sophomoric insults. Just curious.

-- Posted by Sir Didymus on Tue, Nov 2, 2010, at 1:21 AM

Mike,

" Either you guys (McCook1 and Wallis) are just blind or once again trying to stir something up. My guess is you are you trying to pretend that you didn't raise a fuss when the "conservative" posters were banned from the site but strangely remained quiet when the "liberal" posters received the same fate."

Perhaps you need to recap the conversation. Your blog mentioned how conservative posters only kept quiet when other conservative posters were kicked off.

I said I didn't notice when someone was kicked off then you responded:

" Either you guys (McCook1 and Wallis) are just blind or once again trying to stir something up. My guess is you are you trying to pretend that you didn't raise a fuss when the "conservative" posters were banned from the site but strangely remained quiet when the "liberal" posters received the same fate."

You specifically named me as doing something I never did, you only assumed I did because I was also a conservative poster you lumped into that category. I never said anything when a liberal or conservative was kicked off but then again you don't need fact to charge me with doing it, do you?

"I do not know why you are fighting so hard against this."

The only thing I am fighting so hard are the false accusations you've made of me. What's so hard to understand about that?

-- Posted by McCook1 on Tue, Nov 2, 2010, at 5:21 PM

I'll give you this Mike, you always lead the discussion board!
