All Quiet on the Blog FrontPosted Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at 10:04 PM
Now that the majority of the trouble makers have been purged from this website, something that I have been urging for months, it is time for all of us to take a breath.
It did interest me though, that when the "conservative" posters were being kicked off the site, the anger was up front about how their First Amendment Rights (specifically freedom of speech) were being violated. Yet when the "liberal" posters also began to be kicked off the site, most of the those same posters were eerily quiet. You know who you are and I will not elaborate on it further. I will just simply say what I have been saying from the beginning. When you sign up to post or blog on this website you agree to the websites terms of services. If you violate them, the site administrators are within the rules to expel you off the site.
It really is as simple as that. It was never a freedom of speech issue.
Which leads me to another point. I have grown tired of the people that yell the loudest that their rights are being violated when people disagree with them. For those people all I have to say is that you really need to actually read the Constitution if you truly believe that someone disagreeing with or pointing out that you are wrong is not a violation of your freedom of speech. Neither is losing your Miss America crown.
Back to the front end of this story. I put Conservative and Liberals in quotes earlier because I do not believe that the people who have been booted to this point actually have a political ideology. Two in particular (GI and the person of 1000 names but mostly known as Steffani) were nothing more than flamers. What came out when GI was finally booted off the site would not surprise me if GI and Steffani were the same person or at least they knew each other outside of the website. What flamers do is go on websites and purposely say things that will ignite or inflame the passions of other people. Flamers will always get someone or a group of people to follow them in the abyss. I know that I have fallen victim to it many times and I apologize that at time I could not follow my own suggestions of not responding to them. As everyone who is passionate about anything will attest to, if anyone challenges your way of thinking and belief and they do it with inflammatory language it is hard not to get sucked in.
This sudden quietness will not last long. Eventually new flamers will show up. Some of the posters that are still left that at times can be as bad as a flamer will eventually ramp back up. For the time being however let us, all of us that take the time out to actually blog what we are feeling or the news or sports of the day, enjoy the relative silence that has swept over our blog home over the last week. It has been peaceful.
It is just a shame that it will not last.
