Boise State is a National ContenderPosted Monday, October 4, 2010, at 3:10 PM
I have noticed something over the last few years in college football. Everyone loves the underdog, unless that underdog threatens to blow the BCS series out of the water.
All I keep hearing from the "experts" about Boise St is that they do not deserve to be in the National Championship because of the conference they are in. That is all well and good but they leave so much out of the the discussion it is not even funny. They fail to mention all the wins that Boise St has racked up against Top 25 teams over the past couple of years.
They also like to point out that if Boise St were in a strong conference like the SEC or Big 12 they would routinely lose 3-4 games. They are probably right, but if they were in one of the BCS conferences they would also be getting BCS caliber players. Could you imagine this team with 4-5 star players in most every position?
I do believe (conspiracy theory coming) that there is a concerted effort to keep Boise St out of the National Championship. Can you imagine another top five team actually losing a place in the poll after winning a game 59-0?
I believe that if Boise St did play in the National Championship not only would they be competitive but they would stand a good chance of winning. Why not give them that chance? Would it be so horrible if Boise St got to play for the National Championship?
Playoffs anyone? I can dream.
