McCOOK, Neb. — Unmarked out-of-state vehicles appearing in McCook on Sunday sparked plenty of speculation this weekend.

Multiple law enforcement officers were spotted downtown in at least two unmarked vehicles.

McCook Police Chief Kevin Hodgson confirmed Sunday afternoon that the vehicles belonged to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, otherwise known as ICE, conducting immigration operations in town.

Three people were detained during the operation, said Public Affairs Officer Oliver Schuster.

ACLU Attorney Andrew Graff gave one of the names of the detained as Diana Morales Irigoyen. She is being held in North Platte.

Hodgson stated McCook Police Department was not involved in the operation in any way, but he said the department was given notice of the operations ahead of time in case there were any questions as to what was going on.
