James (Ed) Doak

ALVA, Okla. — Funeral services for James (Ed) Doak will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the Marshall Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Max Ridgway officiating. Burial will be in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Ed Doak, son of Perry and Arietta (Hughes) Doak, was born on Aug. 7, 1937, in Cheyenne County, Kansas, near St. Francis. He passed away July 10, 2026, at his home in Alva at the age of 88 years, 11 months, and 3 days.

On Nov. 27, 1959, he was united in marriage to Frances Mustard. To this union they had two children, Perry and Kimberly.

Ed proudly served in the United States Marines. He and Frances have made their home in Alva since 1985.

Ed was a construction worker, mill working carpenter and later in life he became a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and reading.

Besides his parents, Perry and Arietta, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Doak; sisters, Patricia Norton, Jo Ann Pinkston, and Jodi Kirby; brother-in-law, Rodney Mustard; and son-in-law, David Neifert.

Ed is survived by his wife, Frances of Alva; son, Perry Doak (Diana Chavez) of Fallbrook, California; daughter, Kimberly Neifert of St. John, Kansas; brother, Elza (Lea Ann) Doak of McCook, Nebraska; sisters, Janet Lawver of Bloomington, Nebraska, Blanche Mustard of Alva; granddaughter, Alecia (Jared) Keenan of Hoisington, Kansas; grandson, Dane Neifert of Waynoka, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Ayla, Jace and Jatyn, and many other family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Grace and Faith Fellowship Church.
