College football kickoffs now just 50 days away!

Crazy corgi dog walker R.B. (Round Belly) Headley has started his couch potato preparations with pop corn, ice cream and plenty of naps leading into college football season now officially 50 days away.

It all kickoffs on Saturday, Aug. 29 when grizzled coach Bill Belichek tries to get a better effort from his North Carolina Tar Heels than last year’s awful debut vs. feisty Horned Frongs from TCU.

The rematch is set for an 11 a.m. kickoff at Fort Worth, Tex. (it’s gonna be hot) on ESPN.

How about other potential super showdowns leading into year three of that fun 12-team college football playoff?

Saturday, Sept. 5

Ohio U. at Nebraska...could the Bobcats thank Big Red for sending all-time winning coach Frank Solich their way in 2003? One can only hope the Huskers can handle their tasty pre-Big Ten schedule but don’t call these Bobcats creampuffs.

Saturday, Sept. 12

Oklahoma at Michigan; Ohio State at Texas.

Saturday, Sept. 19

Tulane at Kansas State; North Dakota at Nebraska; Michigan State at Notre Dame (will coach Pat Fitzgerald revive Sparty? like all his Northwestern teams?); LSU at Missssippi.

Northwestern at Indiana (defending national champs’ first primetime game of 2026).
