McCook YMCA relocates fitness center, urges caution

Thursday, June 25, 2026

McCOOK, Neb. — As McCook YMCA continues moving through the next phase of its Capital Improvement Project, they have announced an update regarding the fitness center.

Beginning June 25, the fitness center will be temporarily relocated to the lower level of the facility. This temporary location will remain in use until completion of Phase Four in Winter 2027, when the new upper-level fitness center and youth center are scheduled to open.

While the fitness center will remain open and available during this time, members should expect to see and hear ongoing construction activity in and around the temporary fitness space as work continues throughout the facility.

The staff at the YMCA understands this environment may feel different than the typical workout experience, but they appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility during this transition. Their team is committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming space while improvements continue.

YMCA staff would like people to use the new entrance and lobby via the new parking lot on the west side, but wants everyone to use caution while entering and exiting the parking lot due to construction vehicles and equipment. There will be posted signage to follow, and staff are always available to help.
