McCOOK, Neb. — Two items on the agenda of the Red Willow Planning Commission were presented and approved at Monday night's meeting in the courthouse. These items will be forwarded to the Red Willow County Commissioners for final approval.

Craig Bennett of Miller and Associates presented the proposed plats for the hearings on the agenda. A conditional use permit, submitted by Great Plains and Verizon for the construction of a 300 ft high telecommunications tower, will significantly improve the cell phone signal around Lebanon, Nebraska.

The cost of the construction will be paid for by the landowner. The tower will be surrounded by a 36,000-square-foot concrete enclosure and a six-foot fence around the premises. It will be home to Verizon Wireless equipment, as well as three more available spaces for lease. The request was approved.

Commission members approved the preliminary and final plat for K Miller Subdivision located along Highway 6 & 34 and Drive 720, and about six miles east of Bartley. The 18.19-acre property will be divided into two tracts of land.

Also recognized at the meeting was Rick Loos, who is replacing Chuck Tines on the planning commission board.
