McCOOK, Neb. — Patricia “Pat” Ann (Rogers) Schmid, age 91, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Community Hospital in McCook.

Pat was born on March 2, 1935 to parents Clarence (Rod) and Clara (Tillery) Rogers at McCook. She attended McCook High School, where she played the flute in the school band and graduated with the Class of 1953. She then attended McCook Community College.

She married the love of her life Ivan Schmid on Sept. 11, 1955, and to this union three children were born: Deborah, Donald, and Cathy. They were together for 63 wonderful years until Ivan’s passing in 2019.

Pat worked as a legal secretary/legal assistant for many years. She started the first McCook Legal Secretaries Association, served as president and went on to serve as president of the Nebraska Association of Legal Secretaries from 1977-1978. She and Ivan were named as the Honor Family for Heritage Days in 2005, the same time they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Pat was proud of her time as a legal secretary. She was a member of McCook Memorial Methodist Church. She enjoyed boat days at the lake with her family and getting her hair done. Pat will be remembered for her willingness to help others and being kind to everyone she meets.

Pat is survived by her children; Deborah Weber of Twin Falls, Idaho, Donald Schmid of Chadron, Nebraska, and Cathy Schmid of Lincoln, Nebraska; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Wayne Schmid; sister-in-law, Rowena Padgett; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ivan Schmid; brothers, Jack and Rodney Rogers; sisters-in-law, Iona Dunn, June Schmid, Betty Rogers, and Ida Rogers; and son-in-law, Keith Weber.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, are suggested to the Schmid family to defer funeral expenses, C/O Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, P.O. Box 476, McCook, NE 69001.

Graveside memorial service at Memorial Park Cemetery will be held at a later date.
