McCOOK, Neb. — Harry “Don” Wolfe, Jr., 73, of McCook, formerly of Overton, Nebraska, passed away on June 20, 2026, at Kearney Regional Medical Center.
He was born on July 30, 1952, in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, to Harry Donald and Leoma (Mowery) Wolfe.
He graduated from Kishacoquilles High School with the Class of 1970. Don later pursued higher education at Penn State, earning his bachelor’s degree in pre-med in 1974. His academic pursuits were a testament to his commitment to learning and an early sign of the disciplined work ethic that would characterize his adult life.
Professionally, Don began his career at Sperry New Holland, where he contributed until the company closed. He later began a lengthy career at Orthman’s, dedicating 33 years of service until his retirement less than two years ago.
Aside from work, Don found deep fulfillment in exploring genealogy, delving into his family’s roots, and sharing stories of generations past. He was a true history buff, with a particular interest in the Civil War, and could often be found studying, researching, or discussing historical events and their impacts.
Those left to honor his memory is his mother, Leoma Wolfe of Belleville, Pennsylvania; his beloved wife, Sandra Wolfe of McCook; sons, Sean (Rebecca) Wolfe of McCook, and Dean Wolfe of Lexington, Nebraskal grandchildren, Mark, Kevin, Makaylin, and Joseph Wolfe, all of McCook; siblings, Dr. Dwight (Jean) Wolfe of New Holland, Pennsylvania and Carrie Wolfe Gussler of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Annetta Montgomery, as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Harry Donald Wolfe; as well as his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor John Strackbein officiating. The service will be live-streamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Burial will be held after the service at Overton Cemetery.
Memorials are kindly suggested to the Community Hospital in McCook.
