OGALLALA, Neb. — McCook National Bank’s Seniors hit the jackpot with a 14-1, 4-3 doubleheader sweep of Ogallala Tuesday night for their first two wins of this Legion baseball season.

The Seniors (2-1 record) shook off their 18-7 opening defeat to Broken Bow on Memorial Day as an eight-run fourth inning ignited that 14-1 road victory.

Cole Block and Ty Junker batted in two runs apiece while coach Konor Rakes’ boys would total 13 hits overall.

Junker, Kale Sattler, Cole Davidson, Bryson Gullion and winning pitcher Rakes were money with two hits apiece.

Bo Schlegel joined Davidson, Block and Junker in delivering two RBIs apiece.

Kooper Rakes controlled the Ogallala offense. He only allowed one hit, one run, two walks and struck out three in 2 2/3 innings.

Jaime Samaniego is another returner who’s moved up from last summer’s Class B state-qualifying First Central Bank Juniors

Samaniego singled and scored another run during this first lopsided MNB victory for 2026.

McCook’s 4-3 victory featured more clutch RBI-hits from Bo Schlegel and Junker.

Sattler ripped two hits besides handling the pressure pitching duties. He worked 3 2/3 innings, limiting the host Ogallala team to one run and three hits with four strikeouts.

Gullion pitched relief to help finish this one contest far closer than those other two opening MNB games.

On Monday, visiting Broken Bow broke an early 7-7 tie and went on to plate 11 unanswered runs.

Andrew Ellis’ two-run shot over the left-field fence was a big Bow blow.

Dominic Nowak also drilled a two-RBI triple.

Davidson’s two RBIs from his No. 8 batting spot topped the MNB attack to start this season.

Sattler and Rakes also both ripped one hit while Gullion walked three times.

At least the MNB batters showed patience as they worked 11 walks vs. Bow’s somewhat shaky pitching.

Block started on the mound for MNB. He allowed five runs and seven hits through two innings, striking out three.

The Seniors will play in an Ashland tournament this weekend.
