OMAHA, Neb. — McCook senior Jaylea Walgren becomes the third Bison girl to make next week’s Class B state track and field meet.

Walgren will compete in the 300-meter hurdles as her time of 48.31 at Tuesday’s B-6 district in Alliance became fast enough to qualify.

She returns for her third state meet where Walgren joins senior 800-meter district champion Emma Cappel and junior high jumper Halleigha Beavers.

Cappel and Beavers also both competed at Omaha Burke Stadium last spring. In fact, Cappel became a four-year state qualifier for both track and cross country during her Bison career.

Beavers reached the automatic qualifying height for a second consecutive season.

The Class B state meet begins Wednesday morning and continues through Thursday evening with McCook’s 1600-meter boys relay being among that traditional final event.

The Class D qualifiers will take over Burke Stadium starting one week from today through Saturday, May 23.
