Bison almost reach top two in last meet before district
OGALLALA, Neb. — The McCook High golf boys were only one stroke from second place among 15 teams Tuesday while warming up for their district tournament next week.
Coach Ben Vetrovskyprovided more details:
“The Bison finished fourth out of 15 teams in the field shooting a team score of 324. Scottsbluff won the invite with a team score of 301. Gering and Sidney tied for second with a 323.
Cruz McCarty led the Bison bringing home a medal with 10th place shooting a 78. Wyatt Benes and Trenton Raile were in the top 20 with scores of 80 and 81.
Other Bison scores include Tripp Raile 85 and Brody Anthony 97.
“It was one last test for our players before district day on Monday. Cruz and Trenton had some very solid front nine scores with 36 and 37. While Wyatt and Tripp had some solid back nine scores scoring a 39 and 41.
We just need to find the consistency through the whole duration of the 18 holes.
If we play clean rounds on Monday with no penalty strokes we will give ourselves a chance to qualify for the state meet in Scottsbluff.”
