Cambridge girls take Alma Invite title; other area results

ALMA, Neb. — Cambridge made a late-season statement on Thursday as the girls outscored host Alma and other RPAC finals at Thursday’s Alma Invitational.

Senior Elizabeth Kubik deliverd a shot put championshipto go with freshman Lydia McGowen winning both long-distance races.

The Trojans mixed in enough other high places to total 90 points which was 12 more than those runner-up host Alma Cardinals.

Cambridge also overcame Southern Valley’s Cali Santifer running career-best 100 and 200 meter dashes to titles.

The Eagles took third among 11 teams with another highlight being their 1600-meter relay victory featuring McQuiston, Santifer, Natalee Holste and Sophia Cunningham.

On the boys side, Arpahoe was fourth overall and Medicine Valley tied for fifth behind senior Kael Garrett’s two race victories.

Junior Mason Roblee also won Thursday’s high jump for the Raiders, continuing his recent rise among area leapers.

Southwest senior Gage Hammond hit a career-high pole vault.

Many area top athletes compete again today’s Dundy County-Stratton Twilight Invitational. Thursday’s team scores and all top six area placers.
