HOLDREGE, Neb. — Charlotte Ann Hall, age 75, passed away in her home in Culbertson, Neb., on April 26, 2026.

Charlotte was born on May 18, 1950, in Yankton, S.D. and was raised in Lincoln, Neb., by loving parents Charles and Elizabeth (VanUden) Mason. Charlotte graduated McCook High School with the class of 1968.

Charlotte attended Aphrodite Hair design school, and later on, she achieved her associate’s degree in accounting in 1986 from Mid-Plains Community College. She worked hard her whole life at everything she did. She was a hairdresser, pharmacy tech, implement parts manager, accountant, and tax preparer. She could go from office attire to calving boots and coveralls and tote sacks of feed like superwoman.

Charlotte married Robert in March 1975, they just celebrated 51 years of marriage. Together they raised three children, tended the farm and took adventures across the country. They stood by each other through loss and disappointment, and celebrated life together.

She was a caretaker, seeing her parents through illnesses and disability, then caring for her grandchildren when called for help. And friends and family knew they could find strength in her. Charlotte always showed up for her children, attending all performances and graduations and weddings. She made their clothes, classroom treats, and even a wedding dress. Her love extended to her grandchildren, loving to plant flowers and do crafts with them. And loved to send them home with a random pet to add to the collection at home.

Charlotte loved music, with special albums for certain times: there was haircutting music, homework music, happy music, cleaning music, and the just good ’ol country music. She was talented in leatherwork, flower arranging, photography and sewing.

Charlotte created and ran “Southwest Nebraska Small Animal Rescue,” saving dogs, especially Pomeranians, and matching them with the fur-ever homes. She took special pleasure in seeing senior dogs finding homes with senior or disabled people. She also had a special love for her German Shepherds.

When it came to horses, Charlotte loved everything from pleasure rides to drill and show. She won awards and judged competitions but mostly loved the horses.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Mason, and brother, Alvin (Babe) Giedd. Those left to celebrate Charlotte’s legacy is her husband of 51 years Robert Hall of Culbertson, Neb.; children Mack (Joanne) Kivlehen of McCook, Neb., Collette (Tim) McCurdy of Lincoln, Neb.; and Virginia Ellis of McCook, Neb.; brother Jerry Giedd of Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to McCook Humane Society, PO Box 13, McCook, Neb., 69001.
