Christopher "Chris" Allen Reid, of McCook, NE, passed away at his lake house in. Randolph, Kansas on February 23, 2026, at the age of 62.

Chris was born April 1, 1963 in Oxford, NE to parents Marion Chester and Sandra C. (Storz) Reid. He was one of four children who grew up in southwest Nebraska, graduating from Stratton High School in Stratton, NE with the Class of 1981. Chris spent his entire life in agriculture, stewarding well the land he so loved. He had a passion for farming, retiring in 2023.

On December 31, 2004, Chris married Kathy Sue (Moore) Reid at the United Methodist Church in Stratton, NE. The couple enjoyed sixteen years of marriage before Kathy’s passing in 2021.

Chris treasured his time traveling, recounting his many adventures to his family, and working on his home in McCook, NE and on his lake house at Tuttle Creek Lake in Kansas. He was also an avid Nebraska Cornhusker Fan.

Chris regularly attended McCook Memorial Methodist Church in McCook.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Marion Reid; and his wife, Kathy Reid.

Those left to celebrate his life include his children, Michael Reid of Wamego, KS and Isaac Reid of Omaha, NE; mother and step father, Sandy (Roy) Beins of Chanute, KS; brothers, Tony (Cathy) Reid of Wamego, KS and Craig (Christy) Reid of Lincoln, NE; sister, Cathy (Mark) Witaczack of Sedalia, MO; step children, Kari (Tim) Vacek and their children Patricia, Theodore, Molly, and Luke, Kayla (Scott) Smalley and their children Hailey and Hayden and Kyle (Hayley) Newcomb and their son Casen as well as other extended family and friends.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society in honor of his late wife Kathy Reid. www,cancer.org.

Visitation, with family present to greet friends, will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 5-7PM at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook, NE.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM at McCook Memorial Methodist Church, with Pastor Jeff Kelley as Officiant.

Burial will follow the luncheon, beginning at 1:30 PM in the Bartley Cemetery in Bartley, Nebraska.
