Kirk Nixon

Kirk Alan Nixon passed away on January 3, 2026 at the age of 63.

He was born in McCook, Nebraska to James and Margie (Durner) Nixon. At the age of two he moved with his parents to Bartley, Nebraska.

Kirk attended special education classes in McCook and lived in a group home in McCook during the school week. As a young adult, Kirk moved to a group home with Mosaic at Holdrege, Nebraska. Eight years ago, he moved to a host home with a caregiver.

Kirk loved to go bowling, going to the movies, and eating out. He enjoyed going to work at the Mosaic and doing community projects. He also enjoyed going to church at the First Baptist Church in Holdrege. At home, Kirk loved watching sports on TV; he was an avid Huskers fan.

Kirk is survived by his parents; brothers, Jeffrey (Michelle) and James (Svitlana); sister, Kirstina Grace (Michael); aunts, Margaret Allen and Kathy Wise; uncle, David Nixon; and many cousins and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his caregiver, Cindy Allard, best friend, Scott and his many friends at Mosaic.

Cremation was chosen and a celebration of life services is scheduled for 10:30 AM on Saturday morning, January 31, 2026 at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge. Burial in the Bartley Cemetery will follow services. There will be no visitation.
