Bison senior boy wins Beatrice tourney; trio make title matches

BEATRICE, Neb. — Coach Nick Umscheid provided these more details about the McCook wrestling boys from Friday's Beatrice Invitational with more in the Gazette on Tuesday.

"McCook senior Tristan Campbell got 1st place beating a pretty good wrestler from Gretna East in the finals 7-2. His other wins were all by tech fall i believe. John White,  Spencer Steinbeck,  and Jackson Blomstedt all got 2nd place. Justin Chancellor and Gabe Roberts got 3rd place. Gabe Roberts also collected his 100th career win on Saturday. Overall, between Friday at Lincoln Northstar and Saturday at Beatrice our guys picked up 8-10 matches a piece and competed against several new competitors which is why we make this trek east. Hopefully the wins we picked up will pay off for us down the road at districts when it comes to seeding in our brackets"
