Area sales tax receipts released
LINCOLN, Neb. - The Nebraska Department of Revenue has released sales tax receipts for September 2025, offering a delayed but detailed look at taxable sales activity across southwest Nebraska.
Red Willow County reported $15.18 million in net taxable sales for the month, a 1.9 percent increase from September 2024. McCook accounted for most of that activity, posting $14.45 million, up 0.8 percent from a year earlier. The strongest movement came in Furnas County, which climbed 40.5 percent to $4.65 million in taxable sales.
Cambridge generated most of that gain, rising 68.9 percent from the same period last year. Frontier County posted moderate growth at 7.5 percent, while Holdrege and Phelps County saw minimal movement, each increasing by less than two percent.
Declines were reported in Hitchcock, Chase, Imperial, and Dundy counties, where receipts slipped between 1.5 and 8.3 percent. Across all reporting municipalities, the month generated about $2.79 million in local 5.5 percent base sales tax, compared with $2.60 million a year ago.
