When leadership looks the other way

Tuesday, December 9, 2025

Oh, but Nebraska got lucky when Nebraska native Tim Walz moved to Minnesota. Yes, it was an honorable move when he relocated to his wife’s home state. Born and raised in Nebraska, West Point and later in the Alliance area, he graduated from Chadron State University.

As we are aware, he chose to be a Democrat. Now, as governor of Minnesota, investigations have shown that the large gathering of Somali immigrants there has reportedly committed over one billion dollars in fraud against our U.S. taxpayers in the mess often called “Covid Funds,” a number of programs created to provide pandemic-era economic relief.

By his inaction, Walz seems to be protecting his Somali residents against our government’s efforts to punish the offenders. Walz should be asking for ICE to come in and deport any of those Somalis who actually are here illegally. An estimated one billion dollars has gone into thin air. What a mess.

Governor Tim Walz has signed other legislation that is contrary to what many Nebraskans believe, including making cannabis sales, marijuana legal in his state. He champions the most controversial policies pushed by LGBTQ activists and has signed legislation ensuring broad access to abortion in his State. Now he has a non-English speaking Somali population, the largest in the United States, to protect. Minnesota evidently deserves him, and we in Nebraska can be thankful for his absence.

Right now, our American military has successfully been taking out South American high-powered boats carrying their cargoes of fentanyl, cocaine and heroin headed for our American shores. Of course, a few liberal thinkers in our beloved country are horrified and posit that blasting the boats via drones should be illegal because that also kills the crew members. Their thinking is that we should somehow stop those boats, unload their illegal cargo, and let the crew members go about their “fishing expeditions.”

Yeah right! Anything to attempt to obstruct President Trump and his Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth.

Illicit drugs. Yes, they have been credited for the deaths of some hundreds of thousands of young Americans, from teenagers to their early 40s. Evidently, there has to be great profit from selling “the stuff” to our youth. Still, those sales are illegal, so why can’t our police arrest those who sell “the stuff”, prosecute the dealers, and put them in jail for long terms?

If a drug customer dies from taking the crap, then the person who sold “the stuff” should also be put to death.

Prescribing drugs without a medical license and piloting a drug boat without a country’s flag should both incur consequences.

Grannie and I know several young people in our community who became addicted to illegal drugs. A jail term for theft or other offenses separated them from the “friends” who supplied or encouraged their use. The time behind bars was hard, but it did let them get clean. After release, each moved to a new community, away from those former dealers, and so far they’ve stayed clear of the crowd that led them into addiction.

Finding jobs was difficult, but living with supporting people and staying clean is working so far. Sadly, it is important that they not return to this area and friends who will lead them astray. All in all, it is a sad commentary on how addiction to drugs is affecting the youth in our community.

Another bonus of living in Southwestern Nebraska is that we live among people with strong Judeo-Christian values. Even though our community has very few Jewish families, conservative Christians are fiercely supportive of Israel. Our President Donald Trump has built one of the strongest U.S.–Israel relationships in recent history, yet ironically, many Jewish Americans oppose him so strongly that they dismiss anything he does to support Israel.

President Clinton encouraged the importation of a great number of refugees from the disastrous Muslim country of Somalia, some of whom are committing fraud for Governor Tim Walz. Then, President Biden’s feckless leadership caused the importation of a large number of Muslim immigrants from Afghanistan. Many of those are causing trouble in their communities, as per the example of the unvetted immigrant who shot and killed the young Guard member from West Virginia near our nation’s capital.

Although the actions of anything Trump does in those areas of unrest are opposed by those affected by TDS, we in this area of the U.S. can be thankful that we aren’t victims of that unrest.

That is the way I saw it.

  • A quick search:

    Key cases in Nebraska include:

PPP and EIDL Loan Fraud: Multiple individuals in Omaha and elsewhere have been sentenced for conspiracy and wire fraud by submitting false information to obtain millions in federal relief funds. Sentences have included prison time, probation, and significant restitution orders. One Omaha woman was sentenced to 42 months in prison and ordered to pay over $550,000 in restitution for helping herself and others fraudulently obtain nearly $1 million.

Misbranded Products: An Omaha-based company, Quin Global, and its president pleaded guilty to selling a significantly diluted "anti-microbial" product falsely advertised as effective against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, resulting in over $1.4 million in sales. The company was sentenced to pay a $390,000 fine and the president received probation.

Fraudulent Testing and Price Gouging: Insurers have sued the Nebraska-based GS Labs for allegedly price gouging, charging as much as $979 for a single COVID-19 PCR test, significantly more than Medicare reimbursement rates.

Fraudulent Vaccine Cards: A Grand Island man was sentenced to probation, a fine, and community service for possessing approximately 21 fraudulent COVID-19 vaccination cards he purchased online from overseas.
