Biased coverage

Friday, August 16, 2024

Dear Editor

I was disappointed with the rather large article building up Tim Walz in last Thursday’s paper, (August 8, 2024). I noticed that you failed to mention his handling of the Minneapolis fires, his thoughts on open borders, abortion, sex changes for minors, tampon machines in men’s bathrooms, or his early exit from the military when he knew that he was going to be sent to Iraq. Do you think that if he and Harris are elected, they will increase the defense budget or rob it to pay for feeding and housing the refugees and illegal immigrants pouring into the U.S.?

And then in Friday’s paper, you printed a large article from Fact Focus criticizing Trump’s news conference. Nothing was mentioned about Kamala and how she is avoiding answering any hardline questions, but rather how all of a sudden she is going to fix our borders, lower taxes and the price of food, lower inflation while raising minimum wage to $20 an hour, and Medicare for all. She had 3-1/2 years with President Biden to do all these things, and we all know how that worked out. But how on earth can businesses increase wages without causing more inflation? The money has to come from somewhere.

Then what really got to me was your editorial viewpoint about the taxes paid by illegal immigrants on page 4! I understand that they bring in a little tax money, but they also use our schools, hospitals, roads, law enforcement, etc. You also failed to mention what it’s costing our government to house and feed the millions of people from all over the world who came into this country thanks to the open borders without any type of credentials or paperwork. How would McCook citizens feel if several thousand were shipped to McCook to live on your store fronts?

The way I see it: the election in November is not a vote for Harris or Trump, it’s a vote for socialism or capitalism. It was capitalism that built this nation and it’s socialism that’s beating it down.

Just my thoughts.

  • I would say that BIASed coverage is taking information from sources like "FOX" news, which seem to match the talking points made in this article. Please be specific in your arguments. (e.g. "his thoughts on open borders, abortion, sex changes for minors, tampon machines in men’s bathrooms, or his early exit from the military"). All of these points are just scare-fodder for the uninformed.. The way I see this election is "can Republicans Scare American's enough to get them not to vote for the boogey man vs Democrats who have an actual plan for the people". Just my thoughts.. Mick Haney

  • haneyg, get your head out of the sand. those specific arguments are facts not fiction. No reason to make things up to scare people.
