FCB Seniors crush Cozad in opener; MNB Seniors in Hastings

COZAD, Neb. — First Central Bank Junior pitchers Brody Anthony and Aiden Lauer teamed to strike out 10 Cozad batters during a 9-1 opening win Thursday.

The McCook Legion team didn’t commit a single defensive error to start their 2024 season.

Tripp Raile ripped tow hits to lead the hitting attack as McCook FCB dominated this area foe.

No other details were obtained except storms struck before the second game of this opener could begin.

Their entire roster provided features Raile, Lauer, Anthony, Kooper Rakes, Asher Wilson, Braden Fortin, Jamie Saminego, Bo Schlagel, Ty Junker, Kale Sattler, Cruz McCarty, Wyatt Benes and Aiden Doak.

The FCB Juniors (1-0) move on to play a Saturday 1 p.m. doubleheader at North Platte.

They’ll take on two more road texts next week before their home opener at McCook’s Jaycees Complex Wednesday (5:30 p.m. start).

In Thursday’s Legion B baseball, McCook Pinnacle Bank scored a 12-2 victory over fellow McCook team Hermann Jones Funeral Home.

Pinnacle Bank’s been blazing through the month of May and now owns a 9-4season record.

Their other wins include 5-3, 11-0 over North Platte; 6-3 over Loomis, 9-4 over Cozad, 8-7 over Holdrege, 5-4 over Minden, 16-7 over Lexington and 5-4 over Holdrege again.

They’ll host Broken Bow Tuesday night with first pitch set for 8:15 p.m. at Jaycees Complex.

The McCook National Bank Seniors are 1-1 entering this weekend’s Hastings Tournament. The full 2024 MNB roster of players:

Trenton Raile, Ollie Corbett, Miles Pollmann, Bryson Gullion, Quentin Terry, Brody Graham, Espn Hall, Gabe Roberts, Tristan Campbell, Simon Garcia, Noah Mashek and Trey Tiller.

Terry’s tie-breaking single gave MNB a 6-5 opening win at North Platte on Sunday but the hosts rallied to take game two. MNB also makes its home debut Wednesday night vs. Holdrege.
