Hitchcock County golf boys take second at Class D state
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Sophomore Jack Baker was just one stroke from the Class D state title and those Hitchcock County Falcons claimed their own second-place rewards Wednesday afternoon.
Baker shot an excellent 74 to follow his 77 and finish at 151.
Only Sandy Creek’s Jake Dane played better with his 150, thanks to 76 in Tuesday’s first round.
Hitchcock County totaled 666 as a team behind only Overton’s 655.
Other Falcons were sophomore Brayden Melchert in 14th place (161), senior Ashton Parker-Johnson 28th with his 170 and senior Darin Neben firing 189.
Senior Kamden Bose claimed fifth place at 155 (77-78) and classmate Braxton Hammond was tied for 19th at 164.
Sophomore Micah Gerlach tallied 177 while representing the Cambridge Trojans.
Southwest senior Colton Sedlacek finished at 180.
