McCOOK, Neb. — They’re planning to get matching tattoos, because how can one not appreciate “divine” beautifully etched on senior Rowen Wiemers’ shoulders area.

“It’s a reminder that we are all divine creatures made in his image,” Rowen quietly said following what was a truly divine finale for McCook’s No. 1 doubles team.

Senior Rowen and sister Roslyn Wiemers had enjoyed their two seasons as a Bison doubles team to waste their Class B state finale Tuesday afternoon. They shared raquet taps, shoulder pats, smiles and one final great victory: 6-2, 6-4 over Kearney Catholic’s No. 4-seed Claire Rogers and Kit Schrock.

Seeded third, this Bison sister duo had finished third to go with a solid seventh-place finish at last year’s state tourney. They earned 35 wins during their final Bison together — probably none better than this last one.

“We wanted to focus on having fun and soaking up every minute of it,” Roslyn said while admitting tears arrived “almost instantly.” “It’s just been a really special relationship. I thank God every day for my sister.”

Certainly a long ways from Roslyn knocking out Rowen’s tooth in their grade-school days.

“I got some tooth fair money,” Roslyn said. Not they’ll put their teeth back into a baking business.
