Thursday, May 23, 2024

CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — The 34th annual Cambridge CSO All-Star Games are set for Friday night in Cambridge High School.

Girls’ action tips off at 6 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow.

Cambridge coach Clay Shepard will direct this year’s East boys team which includes 2024 Trojan grades Carson Trompke and Brohdey Wood.

Southwest forward Hunter Blume will also jump into the action for this East squad as well as Southern Valley senior Camden Bose.

Trompke returns from winning two Class D state running championships while Bose placed high at Wednesday’s Class D state golf tourney.

Southern Valley boys coach Gerald Utterback will assist Shepard.

The West team is filled with super Gazette-Area athletes like Maywood-Hayes Center leaders Jerry Ingison and Haydn Farr off that historic first D-1 state finalist team in March.

Hitchcock County’s Jaxon Unrein joins the West besides two Chase County Longhorns: Jensen Olsen and Easton Fries.

Most know Fries just finished an amazing track-field high school career with individual and team state titles.

May-Hay assistant coach Marcus Landry will help Perkins County’s Todd Kraus in directing the West boys team.

The girls’ West team will receive guidance from Wauneta-Palisade assistant coach Colby Cox, who is part of the staff with head coach Nate Steinike from Brady.

West players include Medicine Valley four-year tøp scorer Stella Heappy, Wauneta-Palisade state shot put top three medalist Peyton Cox, Hitchcock County four-year force Katie Jarecke and another super contributor throughout her Dundy County-Stratton career: Alyssa Schneider.

Don’t forget Maywood-Hayes Center senior Ellie Broz, who was part of four superb Wolves teams during her career.

Southwest’s Bryn Lampe will be part of the East team beginning her busy All-Star week where she plays in the West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball game on June 1.

Cambridge’s Jalen Kent and Brylyn Springer take the home court one more time along with Southern Valley legend Ann Bose.

Bose powered the S.V. Eagles team into their own D-1 state title appearance besides starting four years for those Eagles.

Arapahoe’s Berkley Warner is another excellent alum who will play Friday night in the CSO event.
