Roughrider takes first at Cattle Trail golf tournament

CURTIS, Neb. — Southwest’s Houston Billeter won the Cattle Trail Golf Tournament as those Roughriders finished just five strokes from a team title Tuesday afternoon.

The ’Riders shot 351 across Arrowhead Meadows Golf Course with only Hi-Line’s 346 and 349 from RPAC champ Hitchcock County proving to be better.

Billeter carded a round of 80 which took first individually, three strokes ahead of Dundy County-Stratton’s Dante Horner.

Hudson Weeder from Hi-Line also fired an 83.

Southwest teammate Colton Sedlacek finished fourth (85) while Hitchcock took all spots from sixth through ninth.

Sophomore Jack Baker — the RPAC tourney champ —led all Falcons at 86 followed by Ashton Parker-Johnson’s 87, Brayden Melchert’s 88 and another 88 for Darin Neben.

Hi-Line’s Zach Whittaker completed the M.V. top 10 at 89.

Other area medalists were Southwest’s Hunter Blume (12th, 91), Arapahoe’s Chris Hermes (93, 13th), Cambridge Trojan Maverick Webb (93, 14th) and Arapahoe freshman Briggs Hill (93).

The complete Cattle Trail team scores: 1. Hi-Line 346, 2. Hitchcock County 349, 3. Southwest 351, 4. Dundy County-Stratton 383, 5. Arapahoe 388, 6. Cambridge 405. Medicine Valley and Maywood-Hayes Center did not enter full teams.

Hi-Line’s Parker Schutz won the Cattle Trail JV title with his 87.

Eddie Eniquez took third for DC-S (94) while Hitchcock’s David Beasley (101) and Will Hodges finished the top five (102). Arapahoe’s Carter Blickenstaff was sixth overall at 105, Cooper Shaw of DC-S seventh (112) and Southwest’s Bryer Lampe eighth (119).
