McCOOK, Neb. — Both Kansas and Nebraska will be well-represented in today’s annual Leroy Hoehner Track-Field Invitational.

Events are set to sart at 1 p.m. after the Bison’s original outdoor opener at Aurora last week was canceled due to cold weather conditions.

Temps should near 70 degrees today when the Holdrege Dusters, Lexington Minutemen, Colby (Kan.) Eagles and Hays (Kan.) Indians invade for today’s big events.

Hays has recently brought strong, large teams to challenge McCook from dominating its home meet.

Colby typically features a solid team with athletes who have been delivering recent success in other sports.

The Minutemen are always a Bison rival like 2019, when Lexington boys won Class B’s state title and McCook was runner-up.

Holdrege will surely bring its best athletes as Dusters always delight in outscoring the Bison no matter which sport.

Watch for results and some details in Friday’s McCook Gazette.
