McCOOK, Neb. — Peace Lutheran Church, 411 East 6th Street in McCook, is inviting the public for a Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The event will not only bring the community together but also raise funds for the noble “Adopt-A-Chaplain” program, which provides care packages to service members serving in various foreign countries.

The church’s Thanksgiving dinner has a tradition of supporting our troops abroad, and last year’s event raised $1,900 to send over 50 boxes of snacks, devotion books, and Christmas cards to chaplains stationed in foreign countries, ensuring that they know they are not forgotten during the holiday season. Each care package incurs a shipping cost of over $20, illustrating the importance of community support.

The food for this event is generously provided by members of the Peace Lutheran Church, Thrivent Insurance Co., Wal-Mart, and several anonymous donors. The organizers extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to all who have contributed to make this event possible. Bob and Joan Nemacheck and Paul and Pat Schaffert are among those leading the charge in this community-driven effort to support our troops.
