McDONALD, Kan. - Brenda Louise Loker, 72, of McDonald, Kan., passed away on Nov. 3, 2023.

Brenda was born on Oct. 25, 1951, to Wiley and Dorothy Gaines in Atwood.

She graduated from McDonald High School in 1969 then went to Kansas City to a computer school. On May 9, 1970, Brenda married J.B. Loker. On Aug. 27, 1971, a child was born to this union, Bryan. They resided on a farm northeast of McDonald until 1983 and then moved to town. In 1985, Brenda and J.B. purchased the Copper Penny bar and restaurant. Brenda and J.B., along with their son Bryan, helped run the business for seven years. In 2010, they bought the retail liquor store in McDonald.

Brenda Loker was a wonderful cook. She loved making meals that were unique. Her sopapillas and other Mexican food was known throughout the area. Even Saturday night’s pizza special was out of this world.

Brenda loved her family and Elvis Presley. She enjoyed all his music and movies and had always wanted to go to Graceland. Brenda also loved football, especially the Denver Broncos and the K-State wildcats.

She is survived by her husband J.B. Loker of McDonald, Kan.; her son and daughter in-law, Bryan and Traci Loker of McCook, Neb.; and her grandchildren, Logan and Ciara Loker of McCook, and Emily and Reese Dellevoet of Kearney, Neb. Other survivors include sisters Claudia Powell and Radonda Dunker and brother-in-law Brad Loker, brother-in-law Gary Loker (Penny), and sister-in-law Lila Howard (Dennis).

She was preceded in death by her parents Wiley Gaines and Dorothy Engleman, infant sister Cynthia Dee, her mother and father-in-law Gayle and Leila Loker, sister-in-law Tammy Loker, and brother-in-law Les Loker.

The graveside service will be held on Nov. 13, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the McDonald Cemetery, with Kyle Dellevoet officiating.

Memorials may be left in her name, given to the family, for designation at a later date.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the support and love received during this difficult time.

Brenda Loker will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will forever live on in our hearts.
