Roughriders' win likely securing a playoff spot

BARTLEY, Neb. — Southwest likely clinched a Six-Man state football playoff with its 50-35 home win over Paxton Thursday evening.

The Roughriders (6-2 record) produced enough power points for one of those 16 state playoff spots. Watch for updates on mccookgazette.com.

Paxton’s Tigers (4-4 record) kept fighting despite a 24-0 Southwest first half.

The Tigers scored all 35 of their points after intermission but Southwest piled on another 26 to maintain control.

No individual stats were obtained before press time this morning.

The ’Riders take three-game win streak into post-season.
