ROCK HILL, S.C. — Mr. Gail Marshall Allen, 80, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the home of his daughter. Memorial service with military rites is at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezeer Road, Rock Hill, S.C. with Chaplain Lee Ann Livingston officiating. Visitation with family and friends will follow at the funeral home. Born on October 15, 1942 in Dundy County, Neb. He was the oldest of the four children from the late Harold M. Allen and the late Beulah M. Lusk of Parks, Neb. Gail grew up onthe Allen family farm and graduated from Parks High School before enlisting in the US Navy. A proud serviceman, Gail served thirteen years as a naval submarine sailor. From 1963 to 1975 Heserved tours on both diesel andsome of the first nuclear-powered submarines earning the rank of Radioman First Class before accepting his honorable discharge and returning to his family to the farm in 1975. Gail spent the next decade on the farm with his wife, Terrina, raising their three young children. He instilled inthem the lessons of hard work, honesty, selflessness, and pride that he modeled in everything he did and accomplished. Highly respected by everyone who knew him, Gail will forever be remembered as humble, loving, even tempered, and reliable. He was the rare combination of a person with intellect and skills. He wasa mostly self-taught craftsman who could build anything out of wood or metal, repair machinery or electronics, or teach someone else how to do so. He was affable, friendly and quickly knownby name at the hardware store, restaurant or anywhere he frequented on a regular basis. He loved his family and his dogs,which were his primary activity in his retirement. His presencebrightened everyone’s day and his absence will be felt in the world by the loss of his simple generosity of interactions.

Gail is survived by his lovingwife, Terrina B. Allen; their three children, Marlon Allen, Kenneth Allen and Terrina Allen Hayden;his six grandchildren, Chelsae Hayden, Natasha Hayden Capaldi, Dustin Allen, Brandon Allen, Zackery Allen, Nickolas Allen; five great-grandchildren, Isabella Capaldi, Gabriella Capaldi, Josilyn Allen, Allyssa Allen, Adlee Belle Allen; his two sisters, Linda Sandford and Patricia Severson.
