McCOOK, Neb. — Recaps fom two nights of McCook Football League action this with three more contests at Weiland tonight.

Nearby lightning cut Wednesday’s schedule short as the Colts (1-0) record and Chiefs (0-1) will now kick off at 7 p.m. tonight, leading into two fifth-sixth grade season finales.

The Commanders are now 2-0 and in control of their division championship after Beau Bednar’s two-yard run broke an 0-0 deadlock.

Commander defense has been relentless, allowing one touchdown through these first two games.

Meanwhile, Bednar has scored all three offensive TDs. He blasted free for two 74-yard scoring romps against the Eagles on Friday.

The Rams could tie those Commanders at 2-1 if they win tonight’s showdown at Weiland Field.

On Wednesday, they overcame a 6-0 deficit on two Easton Frecks touchdowns covering 13 yards total.

The Rams literally evened their scoring after a 12-6 overtime loss to Cowboys Friday night.

Bently Arterburn has scored both Eagles TDs as he covered 10 yards Wednesday to go with a four-yard score on Friday.

However, the Eagles are now 0-2 despite allowing just 12 points per game.

Thursday brought electricity beyond the weather with Brody Hubl scoring three long TDs and now five overall in two contests.

Hubl’s heroics evened the Ravens’ record at 1-1. His five touchdown runs are averaging better than 51 yards of distance.

The passing Raiders threw a league-best two TDs as Tekoa Hazlitt caught both covering 119 yards.
